~Captain's log~
August 14, 1547
Tis well to soon be home amongst friend an' kin once more, though I now find myself lacking th' sister I departed with nearly a year ago. T'would seem Cherry went an' got 'erself lost down in Tortuga some months back. Some measure of fortune would soon shine 'er brilliant face upon me, howe'er when I managed to swindle.....errr... I mean win a ship from a lovely man in a game o' dice!
Not long after, I was particularly fortunate enough to run in to an ol' time acquaintance from past voyages. Mel Tea soon signed on to be me new Master Gunner, an' she quickly set to helpin' me acquire a hearty crew. We searched the seas an' lands from Ireland to Spain, but 'ave yet to locate Cherry.
Recently, we found ourselves in London, an' by great misfortune managed to acquire a Master Helmsman, Charity Kase, who seems to have a brilliant directional eye by starlight. Howe'er, t'would seem she is utterly inept by daylight, an' no skill whatsoe'er with a map.
Note to self: Ne'er make important decisions while under th' influence o' rum.... then again, if I followed that train o' thought, I'd ne'er make a decision at all..... belay my last note to self.
We have managed to pay th' crew rather well since chartering a trip to Canterbury for the fall harvest festival. A William Shakespeare an' his troupe of rum pillagin' actors have paid quite handsomely for the voyage. I'll not inform him that the trip be a mere 55 kilometers, an' will 'ave set Charity a slow paced an' meanderin' course to th' nearest port. He further paid for an armed escort to make the three day journey to Canterbury by myself, Mel, an' gods only knows why... but for Charity as well.
I attended last season's festival with Cherry an' had great sport there. Per'aps fortune will smile upon me once more an' I'll find 'er there at th' pub with one of the Musical Blades.
I shall make every effort to report the events o' th' trip an' festival as quickly as possible.
